Window Tinting FAQs
Got a question before booking?
Here are some of the most common questions about our mobile window tinting services, film options, booking process, and aftercare.
Do you offer mobile window tinting?
Yes — Darkline Tints provides mobile window tinting for cars and vans, offering a convenient service without the need to visit a workshop.
What areas do you cover?
We currently cover Manchester, Cheshire, and North Wales.
If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, send over your postcode and vehicle details and we’ll confirm availability before booking.
What’s the difference between standard and ceramic film?
Standard film is a great option for improving privacy and giving your vehicle a cleaner tinted finish.
Ceramic film is the premium option, designed to offer improved heat rejection and comfort while still delivering the same clean, high-end appearance.
If you’re unsure which option is right for your vehicle, we can talk you through it before booking.
Is front window tinting legal in the UK?
Front window tinting must remain within UK legal limits. Current GOV.UK guidance says that, for most vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.
For that reason, any tinting to front windows must be a light cosmetic finish only and within legal limits.
How long does window tinting take?
This depends on the vehicle and the work being carried out, but most jobs are completed within a few hours.
Timing can vary depending on the number of windows, vehicle type, and whether standard or ceramic film is being fitted.
How long before I can open my windows?
After installation, the windows should stay closed during the advised curing period.
You’ll receive aftercare guidance after the job is completed so you know exactly how to look after your new tint.
Will I see bubbles or marks after installation?
It’s normal to see some light haziness, small water pockets, or a slightly cloudy appearance while the film cures.
This is part of the drying process and should improve as the film settles.
Do you offer rear light styling?
Yes — we offer rear light styling in a light cosmetic smoke finish only.
We do not supply blackout finishes, and all rear light styling is subject to suitability.
How do I book?
You can book through our booking page by sending over your vehicle details, film choice, and location.
We’ll review everything and get back to you to confirm pricing, availability, and next steps before your appointment is secured.
Is a deposit required?
Yes — a £40 booking deposit is required to secure your appointment.
This deposit is deducted from your final balance on completion.
Do you offer quotes before booking?
Yes — final quotes are confirmed before booking.
Pricing may vary depending on vehicle size, window shape, film choice, and overall job complexity.
